Poetry Out Loud Information

Greetings and salutations! I am your webmaster, Lasko, AKA Batman. I will be updating you on all your New Paltz poetry needs, and I am here to bring you a message about Poetry Out Loud on behalf of Ms. St. John!


November 6^th  is the LATEST that you can sign up to participate.
December 10^th  is the first round of competition in the audion at 2:45 PM.
Here is how it goes.
            1. You choose two (eventually three) poems from the Poetry Out Loud Website OR the current             Poetry Out Loud print anthology.

            2. Check your choices against the Ineligible Poems list here: http://www.poetryoutloud.org/poems-and-performance/ineligible-poems

3.      For the first round of competition, you must have (memorized) ONE poem from the Pre 20^th Century (located online here:

4.      and ONE poem that is fewer than 25 lines (located online here: http://www.poetryoutloud.org/poems-and-performance/25-lines-and-fewer-poems )

            4. If you move on to the school-wide competition you will also need to prepare a third poem of your choice (from either of the lists above).
